National ID cards in last night's Republican debate

Both Rudy Giulani and Mitt Romney came out in favor of a national ID card in last night's Republican debate, Sarah Lai Stirland reports in Wired's Threat Level blog. After Ron Paul, who's been a strong opponent of Real ID all along, struck a strong opposing stance ...



... Giuliani and Romney backpedaled and clarified that they only meant this to apply to immigrants (um, isn't this called a "green card").
